Embolden Media Group Celebrates 5 Years in Business

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER AND CEO JEVON BOLDEN

Officially established on March 8, 2017, today—March 8, 2022—marks five years of Embolden Media Group being in business.

  • 30+ books published independently

  • 60+ workshops, keynotes, and podcast interviews

  • 40+ authors represented

  • 500+ authors served through our online coaching platform

  • Countless manuscripts written, edited, or critiqued

  • And more!

We’ve grown from a self-publishing services provider, publishing more than 10 independently published books by BIPOC authors a year, to a respected literary agency and solutions-oriented thought leader and culture shifter, representing 40 wonderfully diverse writers, speakers, activists, faith leaders, and cultural influencers.

To leverage opportunities for our clients, we’ve formed relationships with publishing organizations such as the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), Scholastic, InterVarsity Press, Baker Books (Baker, Chosen, and Revell), Penguin-Random House, Waterbrook and Multnomah, Tyndale, Charisma House, Leafwood Publishers, Christianity Today, Faithfully Magazine, HarperCollins Christian Publishers, Harvest House, Page Street Publishing, and others.

We also formed meaningful collaborations with organizations that support writers, communicators, and various other creatives and influencers of faith from various ethnic and denominational backgrounds.

In our efforts to highlight and gather creators from the margins, we founded groups like Pneuma Writers, an exclusive writing community and coaching program for diverse writers of faith and Christian Publishing Professionals of Color.

Our facilitation of workshops, delivering keynotes, appearing on panels, and writing op-eds examining the need for diversity in publishing have led to our becoming a recognized thought leader, change maker, and advocate for faith-based creators and publishing professionals of color.

In the first quarter of 2021, we secured 9 publishing deals for 8 new voices of color. As we've gone on to do much more since then, we remain proud of the important work we are doing on behalf of diverse people of faith.

I am so thankful to God for all that He has done in these five years. Through cultural shifts, racial unrest, political divides, economic shaking, a whole pandemic, and on and on, we are still here.

I especially thank my family and close friends who checked in and believed in me more than I can believe in myself.

Huge, beyond-words appreciation to the mentors and advisors God has sent my way—from executive coaching to legal issues and finances. I'm so grateful.

Thank you to the authors, followers, well-wishers, secret intercessors, clients, and everyone watching with hope and great expectation—you are what keeps this all going. You are the mission and vision.

And the utmost gratitude for the powerful team of women working with me: Quanny, Cynthia, Elodie, and Sheila. You are the absolute best—and as our fifth anniversary falls on International Women's Day, I honor the phenomenal women you are.

Embolden Media Group exists to cultivate, amplify, and advocate for the works of inspirational women writers, authors of color, and diverse creators of faith whose ideas move the world through written, audio, and visual content. We will continue to strategically do the holy work of disrupting to the broken and outdated systems of white supremacy and patriarchal prejudice while breaking open doors and providing advocacy for those voices that need platforming and amplification.

Here's to the next five!
