What Joylanda is looking for

POETRY

Joylanda loves poetry that takes the mundane moments of life and transforms them into captivating moments of reflection. Traditional forms as well as free and/or experimental verse are welcomed. Accessible language is highly favored over loftiness (unless done for intentional, artistic purposes). Abstract concepts need to be grounded with concrete images.

CREATIVE NONFICTION

She is especially interested in memoirs that center the voices and experiences of people of color.

FICTION

Christian Romance novels that have dynamic, complex characters and don't rely solely on the main love interest to drive the plot forward.

CHILDREN’S

Joylanda loves early reader and picture books that highlight the unique aspects of one’s culture in a way that is fun and invitational to young minds.
